Another wrongful conviction overturned

I am torn on the issue of whether the exoneration of a man who has done 18 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit should be news or not. On one hand, each of these reversals is a triumph that deserves to be known far and wide. On the other hand, the wrongful conviction of an innocent man based on the testimony of a child, when the physical evidence sits 'lost' in the police evidence locker, seems almost 'dog bites man,' which is to say, not news.
Do we have any power as lawyers to make timely exoneration of innocent people the rule, rather than the exception? If so, how?
